About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced System Engineer Security to join our team at the Center for Information and Media Processing (ZIM). As a System Engineer Security, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a central backup and recovery strategy for our ZIM and administrative IT systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement a central backup and recovery strategy for ZIM and administrative IT systems
  • Coordinate and implement restart tests as part of the backup and recovery strategy
  • Design and implement measures to improve IT security, including security analyses
  • Establish, operate, and further develop systems to implement preventive IT security measures
  • Process security incidents and implement necessary IT measures in close coordination with employees in ZIM and administrative IT
  • Advise BUW employees on IT security issues, particularly in the area of backup and recovery
Requirements
  • Completed university degree (Bachelor's or comparable) in computer science, IT security, administrative or business informatics or a comparable, relevant subject with a technical focus or completed vocational training as an IT specialist with at least three years of professional experience after graduation in the advertised area of responsibility
  • Experience in the field of IT security, ideally in a scientific environment
  • Knowledge and practical experience in the field of security mechanisms at network, operating system, and application level according to the state of the art, in particular VPN, firewalls, security analyses, penetration tests, and attack methods
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art IT service and IT security management frameworks
  • Knowledge of the relevant BSI standards, in particular IT baseline protection
  • Experience in project management
