Infrastructure Engineer Role

We're seeking a skilled Infrastructure Engineer to join our team at NatWest. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in developing and implementing core infrastructure technologies, products, and services that meet customer and non-functional requirements.

Key Responsibilities

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

  1. Developing and implementing infrastructure technologies that align with the Chief Technology Office (CTO) strategic targets and architecture outcomes.
  2. Contributing to the selection, creation, and maintenance of infrastructure technologies required to meet customer needs.
  3. Producing and providing ongoing management of infrastructure roadmaps, detailing lifecycles of technology from new products and versions to end of support and retirement.
  4. Providing operational support to other infrastructure teams in the event of major incidents or complex technical issues.
  5. Building and leveraging relationships with colleagues across the bank to ensure commercially focused decisions that create long-term value for the organisation.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  1. A clear understanding of infrastructure layers or stack and a broad knowledge across multiple platforms such as server, operating system, virtualization, database, middleware, or network.
  2. Experience of contributing to roadmaps and strategies and working closely with third parties on assurance of their output and managing their performance.
  3. The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to peers and management-level colleagues, with good collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
  4. A good understanding of Agile methodologies paired with working knowledge of Agile toolsets and experience of working in an Agile team.
  5. Working knowledge as a software developer delivering solutions using continuous integration and continuous development pipelines.
  6. Experience developing and delivering infrastructure as code solutions.
  7. Experience identifying opportunities for automation and delivery.
  8. Advanced experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux and Puppet.
