Responsibilities

The Learning Support Assistant Leader will be responsible for:

  • Understanding specific learning needs and styles and providing differentiated support to pupils individually and within a group
  • Implementing planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher, adjusting activities according to pupils' responses as appropriate
  • Establishing positive relationships with pupils supported
  • Providing feedback to pupils in relation to attainment and progress under the guidance of the teacher
  • Supporting pupils with activities which support literacy and numeracy skills
  • Attending to pupils' personal needs including help with social, welfare, care, and health matters, including toileting, dressing, feeding, mobility, etc.
  • Carrying out specific additional care tasks for individual pupils only at the direction of a suitably qualified member of staff and once full training has been given
  • Promoting positive pupil behaviour in line with school policies and helping keep pupils on task
  • Participating in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, writing reports and records as required
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of IEP/EHCP
  • Respecting confidentiality at all times
  • Complying with individual responsibilities, in accordance with the role, for health & safety in the workplace
  • Ensuring that all duties and services provided are in accordance with the School's Equal Opportunities Policy
