We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced helicopter pilot to join our team at the National Police Air Service (NPAS). As a key member of our air support team, you will be responsible for providing safe and effective aerial support to police forces across England and Wales.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a helicopter in a variety of environments, including urban and rural areas, to support police operations.
- Work closely with Tactical Flight Officers to provide effective aerial support to ground-based officers.
- Participate in pre-planned tasks, such as supporting large public events, and respond to dynamic tasks, including pursuits and searches.
- Collaborate with other crew members to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- A stable working routine with a fixed roster pattern.
- 19 days annual leave per year, with the option to take 12 consecutive days off by booking 4 consecutive days annual leave.
- Additional annual leave and overtime for public holidays.
- A career-average revalued earnings (CARE) pension scheme.
- Medical expenses for maintaining a Class 1 medical.
- A Loss of Licence Insurance scheme.
- Death in service payment.
- A minimum of a UK Commercial Pilot's Licence (Helicopter) with RT Licence and Class 1 Medical (unrestricted) and English language proficiency level 6.
- A minimum of 1,500 hours or 1000 military helicopter, total helicopter flying time, including an absolute minimum of 100 hours flying at night, including 20 hours PIC at night, 500 hours PIC overland under VMC.
- Ability to work as part of a team and be a self-starter.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to the crew while carrying out other tasks.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Have been resident in the UK for at least the last 3 years.
Applicants will be required to fly in a 135 simulator and pass an interview panel. Selection will take place on 6th and 7th Aug 2024 at Gloucester Airport.
