Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Needs (SEN) Teacher to join our team at Esland Care. As a SEN Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education and support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of subjects to students with SEND, including those with SEMH needs
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans to meet the unique needs of each student
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, teaching assistants, and external agencies to ensure effective deployment of resources
  • Contribute to the educational and social development of each student, promoting their inclusion and participation in all aspects of school life
  • Ensure that students' views and wishes are sought and acted upon where appropriate
  • Establish and maintain constructive and open relationships with parents/carers, staff, and the local community
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Degree qualification or equivalent
  • Demonstrable achievements in excellence as a teacher
  • Experience as a KS2/KS3/KS4/KS5 teacher
  • Expert understanding of innovative pedagogy
  • Experience of assessment without levels, including tracking pupil progress
  • Knowledge and understanding of statutory assessment arrangements at KS2 to KS5
  • Knowledge and understanding of effective strategies to manage the behavior of pupils
  • Excellent knowledge of inclusion, including SEMH, EAL, bilingual learners, minority ethnic achievement, and equality (race, disability, and gender)
  • Excellent understanding of safeguarding, especially the safety and welfare of vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils
  • Expert knowledge of strategies for closing the gap
  • The ability and willingness to teach a range of subjects
  • An understanding of a range of SEND needs, including SEMH
  • Personal qualities such as self-belief, a sense of humor, and a commitment to continued self-professional development
Desirable Qualifications
  • Ability to teach across all key stages
  • Degree/qualification in psychology
  • Higher degree or equivalent
