Job Opportunity:

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to fill the newly created role of Controlled Drugs Management Technician and Deputy Dispensary Manager.

As a key member of the senior Pharmacy Technician team, the successful candidate will play a crucial part in ensuring compliance with CD licenses and legislation in the dispensary and on wards.

Responsibilities include managing the supply, security, and use of Controlled Drugs and controlled stationary to Trust Wards and Departments, investigating incidents, reporting and follow up, monitoring, audit, training, and guideline development.

The postholder will also deputise for the Dispensary Manager and carry out final accuracy checking as an ACPT.

Main Duties:

  • Support and manage the efficient day-to-day operation of Controlled Drugs supply to wards and departments.
  • Lead, support, and manage the safe and secure environment of Controlled Drugs in the dispensary and at ward level.
  • Deliver and contribute to the education and training strategy for Trust-wide staff in relation to Controlled Drugs.
  • Collect and analyze data to support Controlled Drugs service development and maintenance.
  • Work with the pharmacy senior management team to develop innovative and forward-thinking service projects to improve compliance and Controlled Drug service at the Trust.
  • Line manage relevant staff and deputise for the Dispensary Manager.
  • Carry out general dispensing, distribution, and associated pharmaceutical duties for the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust.
  • Implement policies and procedures and propose changes to working practices to impact on other areas.
  • Assist department management by supporting and developing pharmacy governance systems.
  • Work as an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician.
