Estimator Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team at Gibson Recruitment Limited.

About the Role:

The successful Estimator will come from a Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or general Construction background and will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and budgets for Construction and Engineering projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Analysing project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.
  • Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and constraints.
  • Performing quantity take-offs and cost analysis for various civil engineering projects.
  • Soliciting and reviewing subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure accurate pricing.
  • Preparing and presenting detailed estimate reports to senior management.
  • Identifying potential risks and opportunities within project estimates.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and construction methods.
  • Utilising estimating software and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assisting in the preparation of bid proposals and tender submissions.
  • Reviewing and evaluating project budgets and schedules to ensure alignment with estimates.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Electrical Engineering qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an estimator in the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, construction methods, and materials.
  • Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, CostX, or similar) and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
