Your Impact

We are seeking a junior derivatives lawyer to join our Global Banking & Markets legal team, focusing on supporting our EMEA equity derivatives trading desks. The role involves a mix of transactional, trading and regulatory advice on a broad range of equity derivative products from high profile structured transactions to our innovative proprietary indices.

Responsibilities

  • Advising trading businesses on a variety of regulatory, documentation, risk management and cross-border legal issues
  • Analysing the legal and regulatory impacts for a variety of cross-border products, in particular in relation to innovative algorithmic indices, hedging and financing structures and market access products
  • Advising on the interpretation and practical impact of regulatory reforms on the equities business
  • Assisting with the structuring, negotiation and drafting of transactional documents, including coordination with external counsel
  • Providing equity product expertise internally in the legal division and across the firm on regulatory implementation and business change projects

Requirements

  • At least 2 years post qualification relevant experience in a law firm or in-house
  • Some derivatives experience is essential, specific equities knowledge is helpful but not a requirement
  • Familiarity with the regulations relevant to derivatives and/or equity markets
  • Intellectual curiosity that will enable you to develop in the team, learn about our businesses and effectively identify legal and regulatory issues
  • Ability to prioritise work effectively, be pro-active in a challenging business environment and to respond to client demands in a timely manner
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, who can work successfully with a diverse range of stakeholders including trading and sales personnel, global control functions and legal specialists globally
