Environmental Health Officer

At Nottingham City Council, we are seeking a dedicated and skilled Environmental Health Officer to join our team. As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a crucial role in protecting and enhancing the wellbeing of Nottingham's citizens.
About the RoleIn this role, you will be responsible for leading enforcement activities that ensure businesses and citizens comply with essential environmental health regulations. You will investigate complex cases in areas such as food safety, housing standards, and environmental protection, making decisions that directly affect the wellbeing of the community.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with environmental health regulations.
- Collaborate with local, regional, and national partners to contribute to multi-agency initiatives that safeguard public health.
- Take charge of prosecutions and legal actions to ensure adherence to critical environmental health legislation.
- Provide guidance and support to businesses and citizens to ensure compliance with environmental health regulations.
We are seeking candidates who are:
- Qualified Environmental Health professionals with a degree or diploma in Environmental Health and a certificate of registration from the EHRB (or equivalent).
- Experienced in regulatory enforcement, with comprehensive knowledge of environmental health legislation across domains like food safety, housing, and environmental protection.
- Effective communicators capable of engaging with the public, businesses, and stakeholders, providing guidance, conducting inspections, and leading enforcement efforts.
- Team-oriented leaders who can spearhead projects, mentor colleagues, and contribute to the overall success of our service.
