Job Description:

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with hearing impairments in a dynamic and inclusive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the delivery of tailored educational programs to meet the unique needs of pupils with hearing impairments.
  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities, promoting social and educational development.
  • Utilize British Sign Language (BSL) to communicate effectively with pupils, fostering a sense of belonging and understanding.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a supportive learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of pupils.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to the development of individualized education plans.
  • Promote inclusion and ensure that all pupils feel valued and supported, regardless of their abilities.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with pupils with hearing impairments, with a strong understanding of their unique needs and challenges.
  • At least a basic level of British Sign Language (BSL) understanding, with the ability to communicate effectively with pupils.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs, with a commitment to promoting inclusion and diversity.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with a willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of the pupils and the educational environment.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Additional qualifications or training in special educational needs, with a focus on supporting pupils with hearing impairments.
  • Experience in a similar role within a school setting, with a strong understanding of the educational environment and the needs of pupils with hearing impairments.
