Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Ecological Consultant to enhance our ecological consultancy services and contribute to our success. This role will be based out of our Birmingham office.

The ideal candidate will have strong commercial project management skills, technical expertise in ecology, legislation, and survey techniques, and excellent communication skills to maintain positive client relationships.

This is a permanent position with a working split between our office, home, and on-site work. We consider candidates on either full-time or part-time/flexible working patterns.

Salary:

Between £41,000 - £60,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

Requirements

Successful candidates must:

  • Live and work in the UK.
  • Have relevant and proven UK experience in a similar role within a commercial ecological consultancy.
  • Hold a degree or postgraduate degree in an ecological or related subject.
  • Be technically competent with in-depth knowledge of ecology, legislation, and survey techniques.
  • Have advanced field skills in one or more specialist areas and hold a protected species licence(s).
  • Be organised with experience of managing projects.
  • Be financially adept with the ability to manage budgets.
  • Have excellent written communication skills and produce meticulous and accurate technical reports.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and use of a car.

Ideally you will also

  • Have a proven work winning track record, experience of preparing bids and tenders, and generating new business opportunities.
  • Be a full member of CIEEM or have eligibility if not currently held.
  • Have experience of leading and motivating a team of both site and office-based staff.
