Job Title: Software Engineering Manager

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our agile teams and drive technical excellence in our software development processes.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the engineering capabilities of several agile teams, including software testing. They will guide the personal and professional development of engineers within their teams, through regular 1:1s and continuous feedback.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with product owners and tech leads to ensure teams are balancing quality and flow with delivery
  • Partnering with tech leads in communicating strategy and fostering inter-team collaboration
  • Supporting the teams by facilitating communication and bringing the wider context
  • Enabling others to make technical choices by facilitating the exchange of ideas
  • Ensuring we have the right skillset in the team, shaping our hiring best practices to attract the best talent
  • Supporting and improving the onboarding of new engineers into the team
  • Source and managing contractors and consultants
  • Getting involved with diversity projects to help build an inclusive culture
  • Championing knowledge-sharing programs across agile teams, such as product demonstrations, lunch-and-learns, hack days, and tech events
  • Following the work of other agile teams and looking for opportunities to adopt common practices and technologies
  • Ensuring the team is equipped to achieve their goals, through training and equipment
  • Introducing and monitoring metrics to help with decision making
  • Collaborating with the engineering management team to evolve our ways of working, designing team processes to create a great engineering culture at The Focusrite Group
About You:

We are looking for someone with exceptional communication skills, who can articulate complex problems and situations to a range of audiences. You should have a broad knowledge of the C++ language and ecosystem, and experience managing or mentoring teams using agile and DevOps best practices, in a culture of psychological safety.

Proven leadership skills and evidence of engagement with relevant communities are essential. You should take a human-centric approach, showing kindness and compassion, and have a passion for helping others to achieve ambitious goals.

A strong advocate for technical excellence, automated testing, frequent deployments, and agile processes, you will be a great fit for our team.
