About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Product Management Lead to join our team at EMBL. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in driving the development and implementation of our technical standards and products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and vision for the development and implementation of our technical standards and products, ensuring alignment with our organizational priorities and goals.
  • International Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with international colleagues, stakeholders, and partners to drive consensus and collaboration on genomic standards and products.
  • Product Management: Oversee the development and maintenance of our products and services, ensuring they meet the needs of our users and stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and develop a strong, motivated team of staff at EMBL, providing guidance, support, and resources to ensure their success.
  • Partnership Development: Establish and maintain critical partnerships with our host institutions, strategic partners, and other stakeholders to drive collaboration and innovation.
  • Financial Management: Oversee the UK-based aspects of our international budget, ensuring effective financial management and reporting.
  • Representation: Serve as a representative of EMBL on various boards, colloquia, and committees, promoting our organization's interests and goals.
  • Communication: Develop and maintain effective communication channels with our stakeholders, including regular reporting, updates, and feedback.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's or PhD degree in a technical or bioinformatics field.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in a relevant field, with a minimum of 5 years of management experience in a distributed, virtual, or international environment.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and motivate teams, build partnerships, and drive collaboration.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of genomic standards, bioinformatics, and related fields, with expertise in multiple areas such as computer science, IT architectures, and data security.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Global Leadership Experience: Experience leading international teams or projects.
  • Cultural Competence: Ability to work effectively with diverse audiences and personalities, and to be sensitive to different cultures.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in languages other than English.
  • GA4GH Standards Expertise: In-depth knowledge of and direct implementation experience with GA4GH standards for clinical trial and submission use cases.
