Job Summary

As a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing preventative and supportive healthcare to children, young people, and their families. Working as part of the public health nursing team, you will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary and inter-agency team to offer public health services to the community.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver the Healthy Child Programme at all four levels
  • Day-to-day operational line management and supervision of School Staff Nurses and Support Staff
  • Day-to-day caseload management of work for School Staff Nurses and Support Staff
  • Appropriate delegation of work to others in the multidisciplinary team
  • Act as a mentor to pre-registration and post-registration students
  • Participate in preceptorship of junior and new members of the team
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare and other service providers to ensure seamless delivery of services for school-age children
  • Confidently and competently work with vulnerable children and families, reducing risk and preventing harm
  • Attend safeguarding meetings as appropriate and delegate ongoing work to the appropriate member of the skill mix team
