Town Planner Role

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a talented Town Planner to join our client's dynamic and forward-thinking planning consultancy. As a Town Planner, you will play a key role in delivering innovative and sustainable solutions for our clients, ranging from private sector developers to local authorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning Applications: Assist in the preparation and submission of planning applications, ensuring timely and effective management of the process from inception to determination.
  • Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough research on planning policy, local development plans, and other relevant documentation to inform project strategies and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Client Liaison: Communicate effectively with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders to provide updates and gather necessary information, ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Report Writing: Prepare high-quality reports, including planning appraisals, design and access statements, and planning statements, to support project delivery and decision-making.
  • Project Management: Support the management of projects, ensuring timely and budget-friendly delivery, and collaborating with the team to achieve project goals.
  • Community Engagement: Assist in organizing and participating in public consultations and community engagement activities, fostering positive relationships with local communities.
  • Policy Monitoring: Stay up-to-date with changes in planning policy and legislation, assessing the implications for current and future projects and ensuring compliance.
Requirements
  • Education: A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, or a related discipline, with a master's degree and/or RTPI accreditation (or working towards it) being highly desirable.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a planning consultancy, local authority, or similar environment, with a strong understanding of the UK planning system.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
