We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Bioinformatics and Software Leader to join our team at Yourgene Health. As the Interim Head of Bioinformatics and Software Development, you will be responsible for leading our international team in the development of custom bioinformatics pipelines, analysis algorithms, and regulated software products for the analysis of genetic data.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a team of bioinformatics and software development experts to deliver comprehensively tested software products, applications, tools, and algorithms aligned with product requirements and our technology strategy.
- Provide technical leadership and expertise in bioinformatics and software development, guiding the design and execution of studies to refine existing algorithms and develop novel ones.
- Collaborate with development scientists to create products, services, and processes meeting the needs of our customers.
- Deliver software development activities according to agreed core processes and using agreed practices and tools.
- Ensure that software applications, tools, and algorithms embedded in our CE-IVD products are developed in a manner consistent with IEC 62304 and other regulatory standards.
- Liaise with external software development partners to ensure compatibility with our software development requirements.
- Further degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Scientific Computing, or a related field, with 10+ years of relevant experience in software application development, testing, and documentation.
- Proven track record in software project management, with the ability to lead technical teams to deliver complex software development projects on time and to budget.
- Experience of working in both Agile and waterfall software development lifecycle approaches, with a knowledge of transferrable processes.
- Background in bioinformatics, data science, machine learning, or a related field is advantageous but not essential.
- Direct experience of working with Next Generation Sequencing data sets is preferable but not essential.
- Must have worked in a regulated software development environment, either in the Healthcare sector or in regulated environments in other industry sectors.
- Experience of current project management and software version control tools and practices is essential.
