Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a progressive and inclusive school in Bath. The successful candidate will provide tailored support to students with autism within the Autism Resource Base and mainstream classrooms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans to ensure students receive the best possible support.
  • Utilize a range of communication strategies, including visual aids and assistive technology, to facilitate student learning and engagement.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes the welfare of all students.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education coordinators, and other support staff to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Support students during transitions, breaks, and other activities to ensure their well-being and safety.
  • Participate in training and professional development to stay informed about best practices in autism support.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children with autism or in a special education setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of autism spectrum conditions and effective support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to promoting the welfare of all students.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special educational needs (SEN) would be an advantage but are not essential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.
