About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Plant Mechanic to join our Fleet Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the service and repair of plant equipment in a safe, efficient, and economic manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive and manoeuvre plant equipment as necessary, recovering defective or damaged equipment, and carrying out technical checks and diagnostic tests.
  • Observe, recognise, and report on plant component or systems defects, or impending failure, and assess, record, and/or cost the repair as appropriate.
  • Carry out routine inspections, service, and repairs of selected plant in the LCC fleet according to schedules issued by the Stores Depot, and in accordance with prescribed quality standards.
  • Examine equipment, report verbally or in writing on the condition, roadworthiness, and safety, and carry out both mechanical and electrical repairs and/or adjustments as required.
  • Interpret and implement technical service instruction data, and manufacturers' modifications.
  • Maintain a personal tool kit, special tools, and equipment in a good, safe, secure condition.
About You
  • You must hold a Level 3 qualification in either plant maintenance or an equivalent alternative.
  • You should have experience working in a fleet workshop or garage.
  • You should understand H&S Policy and how it applies to you and staying safe.
  • You should have evidence of diagnosing mechanical faults and the use of electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • You should have good written and verbal communication, liaison, and negotiation skills, be able to work effectively as part of a team, and be able to plan, organise, and prioritise work within tight time scales.
