SEND Support Role - East & South Kent

About the Position:

We are seeking dedicated and caring Special Educational Needs and Disabilities support staff to work in vibrant and supportive Special Schools.

The Job Overview:

This role involves working closely with class teachers to ensure students attain their targets under individual educational programmes. This includes supporting students with various additional needs, such as Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound, Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in implementing policies and procedures relating to pupil wellbeing, health, safety, security, and confidentiality.
  • Implement behaviour management programmes to meet pupils' needs.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills when interacting with pupils and other professionals.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment by setting out equipment and resources.
  • Provide administrative support, including typing and photocopying.
  • Complete records for pupils' learning and behaviour management.
  • Assist with pupils' personal care needs and organisation of refreshments and mealtimes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum NVQ 2 or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working with children with SEND within an educational setting or similar.
  • Child and Adult DBS check on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
  • Good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
