Job Title: Locum Psychiatrist

Job Overview:

Locum Meds is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Locum Psychiatrist to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality psychiatric care to patients within our trust.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Comprehensive Assessments: Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments of patients referred to the service, including gathering relevant medical, psychiatric, and psychosocial histories.
  • Formulate Accurate Diagnoses: Formulate accurate diagnoses based on assessment findings and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide Evidence-Based Treatment: Provide evidence-based treatment interventions, including pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, and other modalities, tailored to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Monitor Patient Progress: Monitor and review patients' progress regularly, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to optimize outcomes and ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in Team Meetings: Participate in ward rounds, case conferences, and other team meetings to discuss patient progress, treatment strategies, and discharge planning.
  • Supervise Junior Staff: Supervise junior medical staff, including Foundation Year doctors and Core Psychiatry Trainees, providing guidance and support in the delivery of patient care.
  • Engage in Continuous Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development activities to maintain and enhance clinical knowledge and skills in various subspecialties of psychiatry.
  • Contribute to Clinical Governance: Contribute to clinical governance initiatives, including audit, research, and quality improvement projects, to promote excellence in patient care and service delivery.
  • Adhere to Trust Policies: Adhere to trust policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, professional standards, and ethical principles.
  • Foster a Collaborative Environment: Foster a collaborative and respectful working environment, promoting effective communication and teamwork among colleagues and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent qualification
  • Demonstrated expertise in various subspecialties of psychiatry through clinical experience or additional training
