About the Role:

Ofcom is seeking a Digital Safety Intelligence Specialist to join our Research and Intelligence team. This role will involve working with large datasets to generate insights about key online sectors, including social media, search engines, gaming, adult sites, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the analysis of data about online platforms and the visualization and communication of insights from this data.
  • Build deep expertise in the datasets used by Ofcom to generate insights about the online sector, as well as keeping up-to-date with new and emerging datasets in this field.
  • Quality assure data and data outputs.
  • Engage with project teams across Ofcom to effectively communicate findings from research to relevant colleagues.
  • Draft reports for internal use and external publication.
  • Conduct project management tasks, including ensuring timely delivery of work and organizing meetings with stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Generating Insights: Use evidence-driven methods to gather insights and make well-founded decisions based on thorough analysis.
  • Use of tools such as Power BI, Salesforce, Microsoft Excel, Azure Databricks, and social listening software to manage, analyse, and present data/insights.
  • Executing Plans: Organise tasks and set clear goals, managing resources wisely while keeping an eye on progress.
  • Embracing Change: Remain flexible in the face of change, anticipating and adjusting to shifts.
  • Articulating Ideas: Express ideas, thoughts, and information in a clear and concise manner, ensuring messages are understood by everyone.
  • Forming Relationships: Build and nurture positive relationships with people inside and outside the organisation.
  • Exhibit and develop deep understanding of the online platform sector (e.g. social media, search engines, video-sharing platforms) and/or the Online Safety Act.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary for this role is estimated to be around £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience. We also offer a range of benefits, including flexible working arrangements, family-friendly policies, and access to training and development opportunities.
