In this role as Senior Buyer, you will play a key part in our Procurement and Commercial Strategy team based in York. Your primary responsibility will be managing procurement processes for complex contracts and framework agreements.

The team operates within the Eastern Region, supporting customers in the North East, East Midlands, East Coast, and Anglia routes. Your tasks will involve creating one-off contracts, framework agreements, and covering all rail disciplines.

To succeed in this position, you must have excellent strategic sourcing and communication skills. You should be proactive, with in-depth experience of the end-to-end procurement process. This includes developing sourcing strategies, market analysis, market engagement, tendering, evaluation, and contract award.

Your expertise will help mitigate risks within the sourcing framework, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations. Additionally, you will educate internal stakeholders on policy, process, and regulations, providing expert advice and guidance on sourcing and procurement systems and governance documentation.

This Senior Buyer role requires:

• Recognised skills in contractual and commercial matters
• Successful procurement background with practical intermediate-level experience
• Maintaining successful relationships with suppliers
• Knowledge of relevant contract terms
• Strong negotiation skills
