Job Summary

Burges Salmon is seeking a junior Solicitor to join our leading Construction & Engineering Department, focusing on contentious work. As a Construction Disputes Lawyer, you will be involved in a range of high-quality and complex construction disputes with national and international clients.

The Team

Our Contentious Construction team works at the forefront of key sectors, including energy and utilities, transport, real estate, and infrastructure, nationally and internationally. We regularly support clients in navigating complex legal landscapes, utilizing experience across a broad range of dispute resolution methods, including:

  • International and domestic arbitration;
  • Pre-Action Protocol for construction and engineering disputes;
  • Litigation in the Technology and Construction Court;
  • Strategic troubleshooting advice on legal and contractual issues arising throughout the project life-cycle;
  • Industry-specific procedures such as Expert Determination and Conciliation;
  • Expert Determination; and
  • Mediation.

What You'll Need

  • Relevant experience assisting on complex and high-value construction disputes, with an early understanding of resolution techniques;
  • Be a strong team player, with excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Able to manage a complex and varied workload effectively;
  • Be self-motivated and willing to learn;
  • Must be a SRA or Law Society of Scotland registered lawyer.
