Job Overview

The Royal Marsden is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Genetic Technologist to join our Clinical Genomics Service team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality molecular diagnostics services to patients, working closely with scientific teams to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

Main Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out analytical molecular diagnostics investigations with minimal supervision
  • Supervising and coordinating specimen reception and nucleic acid extraction section
  • Ensuring timely and efficient provision of diagnostics services
  • Monitoring quality control of all tests performed
  • Assisting in the preparation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other documentation

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with a relevant degree in Biological Sciences/Genetics, with at least 2 years of laboratory work experience. Essential skills include:

  • Ability to express themselves clearly
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Ability to use in-house IT systems
  • Ability to use Microsoft software or equivalent

Desirable Criteria

Desirable skills include:

  • Basic knowledge of genetics, including the role of DNA/RNA and chromosomes
