Wood is seeking an experienced Offshore Engineering Manager to lead the execution of engineering projects in the energy transition and security sector. The successful candidate will have a broad technical knowledge and be able to collaborate with various disciplines to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Project Diversity Overview

Wood has ongoing detailed engineering projects that offer opportunities for a full lifecycle of engineering experience. The Reading office is known for its ability to execute complex projects, providing challenges and opportunities for engineers. These projects offer experience in sub-contract management, interface management, multi-centre execution management, and governance, as well as commercial awareness and the use of industry-leading tools and systems to ensure data integrity.

FEED Projects Overview

Wood is currently executing and bidding a large number of FEED projects in various global locations. These projects offer design development experience within each discipline, providing a good level of design development and structured evaluation of options. They also require a high level of detail to support high-quality estimates and EPC bid packages. These projects are often fast-tracked and executed across two or more execution centres, presenting opportunities for technical problem-solving as well as management and coordination.

Front End Consulting Projects Overview

Wood's Projects group regularly supports the Consulting business with multi-discipline engineering support. This group executes studies and Pre-FEED projects for a wide range of technologies, including renewable and sustainable technologies. Wood is extremely active in pre- and post-combustion carbon capture and decarbonisation technologies, hydrogen technology, GTLs, wind and solar power generation and storage technologies, to name a few. These projects move fast and offer people the opportunity to work in a highly influential phase of a project, gaining access to technologies that will be crucial for a more sustainable future.

Requirements:

  • Extensive relevant experience, at least 5 years in leadership positions with direct reports
  • Degree qualified (Engineering)
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Chartered with a recognised engineering institution (e.g. IMechE, IChemE, IET, ICE). Fellow preferred
  • Role models company values, behaviours, and ethics, and promotes same in others
  • Significant persuasion and influencing skills
  • Awareness, respect, and the ability to reconcile cultural diversity
  • Pursues continuous development and progression of own skills and knowledge
