Financial Controller Job Description

The Children's Trust is seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join our Finance Team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting systems, treasury management, and accounts payable and fundraising finance income processing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the general ledger and ensure its accuracy and integrity
  • Develop and implement internal controls, including prompt reconciliations of control accounts, separation of duties, and compliance with prescribed systems of authorisation
  • Assist in the preparation of annual accounts, in compliance with the SORP and relevant GAAP, and liaise with external and internal auditors
  • Lead in the preparation of the annual cash flow forecast and monthly reconciliations between forecast and actual
  • Manage the purchase ledger function, ensuring the ledger is kept clean and at an acceptable level
  • Assist with the credit control function, in liaison with relevant service leads, and support KPIs
  • Oversee the Fundraising Accountant role, ensuring accuracy of reconciliations between Fundraising and Finance
  • Manage the Fixed Asset Register, ensuring its accuracy
  • Submit quarterly VAT returns and VAT reconciliations
  • Undertake ad hoc projects as required by the Head of Finance
