Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections and contract monitoring to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and council policies.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of a wide variety of roads construction methods and materials.
  • Utilise highly developed record keeping skills to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inspections and site visits.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to deliver a demanding programme of improvement and maintenance works.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders on roads maintenance and construction practices.

Requirements

  • Extended relevant working experience in roads maintenance and construction.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of the Roads and Transportation systems RMS and Symology (and Scottish Roads Works Register) is desirable.
  • Hold an HNC or equivalent (SVQ3 or City & Guilds Level 4) in a relevant subject.

Working Arrangements

The successful candidate will be based at Civic Centre, Motherwell and will have an operational area within North Lanarkshire. A current driving licence is essential due to the requirement to work throughout North Lanarkshire and outwith public transport routes.
