Job Description

Job Title: Teaching Assistant/Support Professional

Job Summary:

Cumberland Council is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our Learning Support Service as Teaching Assistants and Senior Teaching Assistants. As a Teaching Assistant/Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting children with various needs, including severe and complex needs, additional/special educational needs, and supporting Adult Learners achieve their GCSE grades.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to children with various needs, including class support, 1-1 support, and severe and complex needs.
  • Assist teachers and other support staff in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support Adult Learners in achieving their GCSE grades.
  • Work collaboratively with the Learning Support Service team to identify and implement strategies to support children's learning and development.
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure a smooth and supportive learning experience.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Please see attached Post Specifications for details on the qualifications required.
  • DBS Check: This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and requires an enhanced DBS check with a Children's Barred List check.
  • Portable DBS: A Portable DBS is also welcomed.

Working Arrangements:

  • Term-time working only.
  • No minimum set contracted hours (Initially you will be recruited to our supply register but this could soon lead to more regular/contracted work if that is what you are looking for).
  • Typically, we would be looking for between 2 - 5 days availability from candidates.
  • Applicants need to be contactable by phone and able to at times work at short notice.
  • Expected reasonable distance to travel around 15 miles.
