Anesthesiology Specialist

We are seeking a Consultant Anesthetist to join our team at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust on a fixed-term basis for 12 months. The successful candidate will be fully engaged in the diverse workload of our anaesthetic department, collaborating across various surgical specialties.

The primary focus of this position is general anesthesia, with opportunities for subspecialization based on individual interests and training.

• To share responsibility for delivering high-quality anaesthetic services.
• Teaching and training of junior staff, medical students, and multidisciplinary teams.

West Suffolk Hospital has nine theatres within the main complex, including one dedicated to obstetrics, emergency work, and trauma cases. A Day Surgery Unit accommodates four theatres open to all specialties, with one further theatre for the Ophthalmic Treatment Centre.

The Anaesthetic Department comprises 32 substantive consultants, seven specialty doctors, and an additional 28 trust, MTI, and trainee doctors.
