Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Vehicle Specialist - Shift Technician to join our team. As a Shift Technician, you will work closely with the depot leadership team to enhance vehicle safety and reliability while reducing costs.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct vehicle diagnostics, repairs, inspections, servicing, and parts replacement in line with central Engineering Standards and Operating Procedures.
  • Support the management team to improve fleet safety, reliability, presentation, and reduce costs.
  • Manage breakdown calls, carry out roadside assistance & road testing of vehicles ensuring minimal disruption to service delivery.
  • Ensure accurate records are kept, especially VOR log, wheel retorque log, 14-day tyre check sheet, fuel and oil leak check sheet, Inspection sheets, servicing sheets, and parts booking sheet.
  • Provide guidance to other staff as required, including apprentice mentoring.
  • Undertake audits.
Requirements
  • A minimum level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent (City & Guilds level 1 & 2).
  • Working experience in either bus or coach, HGV/PSV mechanics.
  • A valid UK driver's license and an ability to obtain your PCV license (First Bus will help with this).
  • Willingness to undertake management training as provided by First Bus.
  • UK residency.
  • Willingness to undergo a drugs and alcohol test.

About This Role

This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires flexibility with working hours and readiness to operate across the South Yorkshire business as needed.

Estimate Salary

The estimated salary for this role is £35,000-£45,000 per annum, depending on experience.
