As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that the Contractor adheres to the Contract Specification Testing & Certification requirements and the Contractor's site quality plan. You will promote best practice across the Delivery Team and observe the Contractor's working operations for compliance with the Specification.
- Ensure the Contractor adheres to the Contract Specification Testing & Certification requirements within it and the Contractor's site quality plan.
- Observe the Contractor's working operations for compliance with the Specification and undertake the recording of daily on-going works (plant, people, gangs, weather etc.) and specific matters as requested by the Supervision or Commercial teams.
- Inspect works that will be covered up as part of the permanent works and work collaboratively at source with the contractor to correct work that is defective.
- Agree defective works with the Contractor and record on the site quality systems.
- Suggest areas for improvement to the Supervisor.
- Observe the on-site health and safety aspects of the Contractor's operations and inform the Contractor's Supervision staff and the Supervisor of key H&S risks and/or areas for improvement.
- Attend meetings as requested by the Supervisor.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Significant relevant practical work experience within the Highways or Bridge sector.
- Trade qualification or HNC in Civil or Building related discipline.
- Familiarity with the MCHW - Specification for Highway Works and associated testing and inspection protocols.
- Ability to read drawings and specifications and understand key testing points.
- Driving Licence.
- CSCS Card.
- NRSWA supervisor for the highways inspector.
We are looking for someone with:
- Ability to liaise confidently (and if necessary assertively) with the Contractor on all testing technical matters and inspections as required.
- Ability to work within a team and request support where necessary.
- Proactive approach to the resolution of issues.
- Diligent and logical approach to problem solving and record keeping.
- Ability to liaise confidently with the Contractor on all observed unsafe health and safety practices or near misses.
- Good communication skills working within a collaborative team environment.
- Excellent record management skills (e.g., daily diaries) including the use of app-based record keeping products.
- Familiarity and competence in the use of Office software/data capture devices and apps.
