Job Overview

Welcome to Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, a leading healthcare provider in Berkshire and Surrey. We are seeking highly skilled Registered Biomedical Scientists (Band 6) to join our Bacteriology Department as permanent full-time posts.

About the Role

You will be working with our team of experienced scientists, using advanced techniques such as Kiestra system, MALDITOF, and PCR to diagnose microbiological infections. Your primary responsibility will be to perform diagnostic microbiology examinations and reporting of specimens received, aiding patient treatment and care.

We require you to have completed and passed the IBMS Specialist Portfolio or Diploma in Microbiology, and be HCPC registered. Experience in most areas of diagnostic microbiology is essential, including bacteriology, parasitology, and mycology. You should also possess good communication skills, able to advise clinicians on test performed and results obtained.

The successful candidate will work within a busy laboratory environment, fully accredited by UKAS 151089 and HCPC training status. As part of our team, you will participate in the full shift rota, covering early and late shifts, weekends, and on-call duties during the week.
