About the Role

VVB Engineering (UK) Limited is seeking a skilled BIM Modeller to support the HS2 Old Oak Common project. As a key member of the Engineering Directorate, you will play a critical role in the production and coordination of high-quality 3D CAD models with embedded data, ensuring alignment with project standards and the BIM Execution Plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the delivery and management of projects from technical design to construction stage, ensuring compliance and delivery to project standards.
  • Implement best practice and consistent processes across the project, liaising with project stakeholders and the supply chain to ensure correct standards are applied.
  • Responsible for quality processes and quality standards of all deliverables, including exchange information and conversion processes.
  • Utilize Bentley ProjectWise with OpenBuilding Designer, RaceWAY, and MicroStation for detailed 3D CAD model creation and documentation, ensuring models are fully coordinated and utilizing clash avoidance tools embedded within the digital twin used on the project.
  • Liaise with discipline BIM leads to ensure optimized clash results using suppression rules based on modeling methods.
  • Lead the production of high-quality 3D CAD models and detailed construction drawings for specific elements of railway station projects, ensuring integration with overall project information models.
  • Produce model geometry and information in line with the Component Catalogue and outline information within the BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
  • Ensure all models submitted meet project requirements and ensure systems are in place for clash avoidance, internal model audits, and clash detection before model submission.
  • Support and liaise with the BIM Coordinator, BIM Manager, and wider project joint venture team in the implementation of deliverables adhering to specified project standards and to facilitate issue resolution.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the project's ProjectWise Common Data Environment, ensuring accurate and timely information flow and adherence to data management standards.
  • Participate in quality assurance checks to ensure deliverables meet project accuracy, detail, and employer information requirements.
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with the BEP and supporting project standards, contributing to regular reports on BIM deliverable status.
  • Work closely with other disciplines to ensure 3D CAD models are integrated and coordinated efficiently, attending regular coordination meetings as necessary.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project team members on BIM-related issues.
Requirements
  • BIM Modeller with at least 3 years of experience in major infrastructure/transportation projects.
  • Experience of working in an engineering production environment.
  • A railway, transportation, or construction background.
  • Experience of delivering projects to UK BIM Standards, including BS1192 and ISO 19650.
  • Proficient in using Bentley software, including ProjectWise, OpenBuilding Designer, Bentley RaceWay, and MicroStation.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading the technical development of 3D CAD components from conceptual design through to detailed construction models.
  • Experience in working within multidisciplinary teams, contributing to the cohesive development of integrated project deliverables.
  • Good knowledge of UK design standards, such as Network Rail, HS2, and TfL.
  • Experience working with BEPs, Task Information Delivery Plans (TIDP), Master Information Delivery Plans (MIDP), and Model Production Delivery Tables (MPDT).
  • Ability to adapt to new BIM technologies and workflows, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
