Senior Consultant in Older Adult Psychiatry

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant to join our team in Older Adult Mental Health services. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to a population of circa 10,000 people aged over 65 in the Banff and Buchan region of North Aberdeenshire.

The Consultant will be based at Royal Cornhill Hospital, a modern Psychiatric Hospital with a range of specialties, and will have responsibility for acute and organic admission beds at Royal Cornhill Hospital and in Brucklay Ward, based at Fraserburgh Hospital.

The post holder will contribute to Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching, register with the Continuing Professional Development Programme of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and engage in annual appraisal towards revalidation.

Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required. The post is advertised as whole time, but candidates unable to work whole time for personal reasons will be eligible to be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality care to a population of circa 10,000 people aged over 65 in the Banff and Buchan region of North Aberdeenshire.
  • Be responsible for acute and organic admission beds at Royal Cornhill Hospital and in Brucklay Ward, based at Fraserburgh Hospital.
  • Contribute to Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching.
  • Register with the Continuing Professional Development Programme of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
  • Engage in annual appraisal towards revalidation.

Requirements:

  • Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC.
  • Higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.
  • Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP).
