Job Summary

As a Resident Support Assistant at St Monica Trust, you will play a vital role in delivering a holistic, person-centred service to care home residents. This involves identifying their hospitality, housekeeping, and catering needs and preferences, collaborating with other teams to achieve this, and maintaining a high standard of hygiene in accordance with health and safety, infection control standards, food hygiene legislation, and St Monica Trust's policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver a holistic, person-centred service to care home residents, identifying their hospitality, housekeeping, and catering needs and preferences.
• Collaborate with other teams to achieve this.
• Maintain a high standard of hygiene in accordance with health and safety, infection control standards, food hygiene legislation, and St Monica Trust's policies and procedures.
• Ensure room checks, communal room comfort, cleanliness, hygiene, and laundry sorting.
• Meet residents' unique needs and collaborate with colleagues across the care home teams.
• Ensure lounge areas (where applicable) are ready for use as a coffee and bar venue for residents and their visitors.

Working Hours

This role involves working 36 hours per week over 5 shifts per week on a 2-week rota. The working hours are as follows:

Week 1: Sunday and Monday 7.30am to 4pm, Tuesday 11am to 7.30pm, Wednesday and Friday 7.30am to 2pm
Week 2: Monday 7.30am to 4pm, Tuesday 11am to 7.30pm, Wednesday and Friday 7.30am to 2pm, Saturday 7.30am to 4pm

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have strong communication skills, including the ability to write notes and messages, communicate with people with differing communication needs, and encourage and influence. You will also need to have a thinking style that involves analysing and evaluating given information, adapting your style and approach appropriate to the situation or task, structuring tasks/activities, pre-empting issues and trouble-shooting, referring appropriate decisions to a line manager, and challenging or suggesting new ways of working to promote the efficiency of the unit or team.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential skills and qualifications include being confident with IT and using standard office programs, understanding of basic food preparation and cleaning techniques, an understanding and appreciation of older people in a care setting and the issues that may affect them, knowledge of basic health and safety rules, and knowledge of customer service principles. Desirable skills and qualifications include a Level 1 or 2 in Food Hygiene (or equivalent), a Level 2 in Healthcare Cleaning (or equivalent), a general level of education (GCSE or equivalent), familiarity with Microsoft 365 and video call programs such as Facetime, Zoom, etc., working experience in a care setting, and knowledge of safe moving and handling techniques.
