Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our Planning Team at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. As a key member of the team, you will provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of our service planning agenda, ensuring expertise is available to support Divisions in their work to plan, redesign, and modernise services.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide lead service planning support to Health Board Divisions, facilitating delivery of key and specific areas of Division service plans aimed at improving service provision across the whole system.
  2. Work as a senior manager within the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and a senior member of the Corporate Planning Team, collaborating with other Planning Team members, Divisional Directors, Divisional General Managers, and other senior managers and clinicians.
  3. Offer best practice pro-active and technical planning advice and support to the organisation on service plans, strategies, and service development approaches.
  4. Lead specific projects and plans necessary to develop and deliver new service models and support the Health Board's strategic plans.
  5. Manage a specific portfolio of work streams/projects and/or service planning initiatives, such as a service model review or exploring and supporting productivity and efficiency opportunities.
  6. Represent the Planning Division in the relevant Division or Corporate department relating to designated integrated Medium Term Plans, ensuring that the service planning function is proactive and influential in its contribution to the Health Board's strategic and operational objectives.
  7. Lead on specific developments that improve the planning skills and capability across the Health Board, including the development of planning resources in an easily understood format, encouraging and supporting their proactive use by all appropriate staff within the organisation.
  8. Provide direct support to key lead staff at a Division level, for example, General Managers, Directorate Managers, and Directors, in the planning and redesign work associated with the post lead responsibilities.
  9. Assist healthcare professionals to use service planning and development methodologies and techniques to gain maximum benefit from operational processes.
  10. Demonstrate a high standard of professionalism, efficiency, and effectiveness in the delivery of service planning support, ensuring that activity is fully aligned to the business of the Health Board.
  11. Support the Planning Division in ensuring the spread and facilitation of a culture of continuous improvement and professional excellence across the organisation.
