Middleton, United Kingdom Royal Mail Group Full time

At Royal Mail Group, we are committed to achieving net zero carbon by 2040 and a 25% water reduction target by 2030. To support this ambitious goal, we are seeking an experienced Junior BEMS (Buildings Energy Management System) Energy Manager.

This role is part of the central Energy Team operating within the Property division, responsible for delivering energy management support across the entire property portfolio of approximately 1,800 buildings. With a workforce of over 100,000 employees and a fleet of over 30,000 vehicles, including an expanding electric vehicle fleet, the Energy Team plays a crucial role in reducing our environmental impact.

In this position, you will work closely with the BEMS Manager to identify ways to improve energy efficiency, monitor environments, and reduce carbon emissions across our property portfolio. Your primary focus will be on supporting best practice energy management, ensuring the built environment is optimized for energy efficiency while maintaining user comfort.

  • You will serve as the first point of contact, working with the Facilities Management Helpdesk in Leeds and FM Engineering colleagues to troubleshoot BEMS and HVAC issues.
  • With a strong emphasis on remote analytics, monitoring and targeting, measurement and verification, and building energy management systems optimization, you will work with key stakeholders from across the business, together with suppliers, to achieve energy savings.

About the Role:

This is a desk-based, remote position with occasional travel to meetings, ideally based in Northern England. As a member of the Energy Team, you will contribute to the development of innovative solutions to drive energy efficiency and reduce our environmental footprint.

Your Skills and Qualifications:

  • You should have experience in the energy, low-carbon, or related industries.
  • You should possess a good understanding of energy management principles, building services, and controls, including BEMS and Trend.
  • You should have hands-on experience with building energy management systems installation, maintenance, operation, and optimization.
  • You should be able to work independently and collaboratively, with attention to detail, under pressure, and with limited information.

Salary: The estimated salary for this role is £35,000 - £41,000 per annum, depending on experience, with a potential bonus of up to 6%. Additionally, you will receive 22.5 days annual leave plus bank holidays and work full-time hours (37.5 hours per week) in a permanent position.
