Personal Tax Manager (Accountancy Practice Based) - North Yorkshire

Our client, a reputable accountancy firm based in North Yorkshire, is seeking a highly skilled Personal Tax Manager to join their team. As a key member of the tax department, you will be responsible for managing a range of tax-related tasks, including planning opportunities, self-assessment tax returns, and trust and estate tax returns.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identification of planning opportunities to minimize tax liabilities
  • Preparation of self-assessment tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, partnerships, and trusts
  • Completion of associated tax computations, including capital gains on securities, chattels, and property transactions
  • Management of trust and estate tax returns
  • Liaising with clients to ensure accurate and timely tax compliance
  • Reviewing and ensuring technical competence and accuracy of the department's work
  • Budgeting and financial management
  • Meeting billing targets and monitoring time and recovery for the group
  • Reporting back to partners and senior management
The Team:

The North Yorkshire Tax department is a dynamic team of 20 professionals, working with a diverse range of clients, including owner-managed businesses, landed estates, and high-net-worth individuals. Our clients' office is situated in a popular town centre, with modern and friendly offices.

Requirements:
  • Similar experience in a tax-focused or general practice role in a medium to large-sized firm
  • Experience in organizing the delivery of tax work, problem-solving, and using your own initiative
  • Experience in preparing computations from accounts
  • Experience in advisory work or a strong desire to learn and use tax legislation to arrive at conclusions
  • Experience in personal tax, trusts, or both, with a willingness to develop your knowledge
  • Experience in using computerized tax packages
