About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety, Health and Environmental Advisor to join our team at Nottingham City Council. As a key member of our Housing Services team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, tenants, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the operational delivery of health and safety management systems, ensuring compliance and continual improvement.
  • Maintain and update health and safety policies, procedures, and guidance.
  • Undertake site inspections of offices and workplaces associated with our mobile staff.
  • Provide assurance that health and safety standards in construction, fire, and workplace safety are being maintained.
  • Investigate accidents and near misses, identifying lessons learned to reduce risk in the business.
  • Support the management of risks from hand-arm vibration, construction dust, and occupational health surveillance.
  • Develop and present written and verbal information on health and safety topics.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in health and safety, preferably with a NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and present information in a clear and concise manner.

You will be able to demonstrate specialist skills, knowledge, and experience in current health and safety topics affecting housing providers. Experience of working with others to improve organizational safety culture and leading training and workshops is also essential.
