Job Overview

Serving a world-leading inspection and testing company, this position offers an exceptional opportunity to develop your skills as a Cargo Inspector.

As a key member of the SGS team, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of shipments by performing sampling and measurements to provide accurate reporting to clients. Your expertise in assessing the quantity and quality of materials, including Crude Oil, Petroleum Products, Petrochemicals, and Petroleum Gases, will play a vital role in maintaining industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will follow standard practices to perform measurement activities, including visual observations, volumetric/temperature measurements, and representative sampling of petrochemical products.
  • You will record and report results of measurement activities to determine accurate load/discharge/transfer quantities, adhering to industry practices using relevant systems.
  • You will work collaboratively with colleagues, clients, and third parties to ensure seamless operations, including effective communication regarding any delays or potential impacts on work execution.

This role requires physical resilience, adaptability, and flexibility to work irregular hours as part of a 24/7, 365-day operational team. A background in the Oil and/or Chemical industry, preferably with prior Inspection experience, is highly desirable. Alternatively, experience working at sea or holding a relevant science/nautical qualification with a willingness to learn is also acceptable.

Requirements
  • A full valid driving license for use in the UK is mandatory.
  • You must demonstrate excellent communication skills (oral and written) to effectively interact with colleagues, clients, and third parties.

The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training, coaching, and mentoring, along with access to necessary equipment and PPE, to ensure safe performance in the role.
