Data Centre Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Data Centre Design Engineer to join our team at Sudlows. As a key member of our Critical Infrastructures division, you will play a leading role in the delivery of data centre projects and the coordination of feasibility studies, data centre audits, proposals, and design deliverables.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce audits, concept designs, and proposals for data centres and critical facilities, coordinating with the wider design team as required.
  • Manage the technical development of proposals and tender responses, supporting the Bid Team as required.
  • Produce and manage the production of specifications for data centre and critical environment projects.
  • Undertake reviews of design drawings and specifications, providing feedback and comment as applicable.
  • Produce, coordinate, review, and manage technical submittals.
  • Work closely with suppliers and review quotations for technical compliance.
  • Carry out site visits and surveys.
  • Undertake data centre audits, either individually or as part of a team, as required for the size of the site, against data centre engineering standards and best practices.
  • Manage the distribution and sharing of design information with other departments, suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and clients.
  • Liaise with the procurement team to ensure the necessary specifications and drawings are available to the required programme.
Requirements
  • A strong technical experience in data centre engineering projects is essential.
  • Fully proficient with all office software and able to produce high-quality professional documents, presentations, and reports.
  • A good communicator, both in writing and on the telephone.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and manage time, in order to meet tender return deadlines.
  • Achieved or working towards Chartered status with a related recognized body (e.g. CIBSE, IET, IMechE).
