We are recruiting for a highly skilled Accountant to join our team at Curtis Recruitment Limited in Camberley. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a growing accountancy practice that provides advice and accounting solutions to help entrepreneurial and high growth businesses.

Job Description
  • Prepare statutory accounts, VAT returns, payroll, corporation tax and personal tax returns, and some audit work.
  • Ensure year-end files are complete with back-up schedules to support balance sheet figures.
  • Handle client enquiries on a day-to-day basis and inform the manager to ensure he is kept fully up to date.
  • Ensure consistent quality over all work.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Supervise, manage, motivate and train junior staff.
  • Follow existing systems, update them and develop new ones as appropriate.
  • Ensure budgets are met.
  • Review VAT returns, understanding VAT requirements, concepts and calculations.
  • Ad-hoc advisory services.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience gained within a UK accountancy practice, be proficient in preparing statutory accounts, audit, VAT returns, payroll and personal, partnership & corporation tax returns. Strong IT skills are required, including advanced Excel skills, knowledge of accounting software and ability to pick up new packages quickly.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • ACA or ACCA qualification (recently or nearly qualified).
  • Significant experience gained within a UK accountancy practice.
  • Proficient in preparing statutory accounts, audit, VAT returns, payroll and personal, partnership & corporation tax returns.
  • Strong IT skills, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities at once.
  • Work independently as well as possessing strong teamwork skills.
  • Sound analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills and able to work to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate scepticism – able to think around situations and identify potential issues rather than accepting the status quo.
Estimated Salary:

£45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience.
