The University of Edinburgh is seeking an experienced clinician to fill a fixed-term position in the Farm Animal Practice, providing first-opinion services to local farms and consultancy work.
About the Opportunity
The Farm Animal Practice offers a unique combination of clinical work, teaching, and research opportunities. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for providing veterinary services to local farms, working closely with colleagues to develop and manage the practice, and teaching undergraduate students in farm animal husbandry and disease.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first-opinion services to local farms, including beef, sheep, dairy, camelid, pig, and smallholder operations
- Contribute to the development and management of the Farm Animal Practice and Hospital
- Teach undergraduate students in all aspects of farm animal husbandry and disease
- Be involved in consultancy and referral casework, collaborating with senior members of the team
Requirements:
- MRCVS qualification with relevant farm animal experience
- Postgraduate qualifications are advantageous but not essential
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A full driving license, free from significant penalties
- Already hold or be eligible to become an Official Veterinarian
Additional Benefits:
The position comes with a competitive salary of £65,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, and additional benefits including professional development opportunities and access to advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities when required.
