Astute People's Nuclear team collaborates with a renowned engineering company to address customer needs for engineered solutions to high-temperature/thermal engineering challenges.

The HSE Lead role for the Hinkley Point C project on a permanent basis is crucial to the site's operations and comes with a base salary of £89,100, accommodation allowances, travel expenses, overtime pay, and 28 days annual leave + bank holidays.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain HSE policies and procedures in alignment with organisational and project standards.
  • Organise and deliver safety training, conduct drills, and execute campaigns to promote HSE compliance and awareness.
  • Verify adherence to local, national, and international safety and environmental regulations.
  • Analyse HSE data and trends to enhance performance, establish KPIs, and drive proactive measures.
  • Facilitate monthly safety committee meetings and deliver toolbox talks to teams of up to 60 people.
  • Review and manage key documentation such as RAMS, VTS, COSHH assessments, and confined space plans to guarantee safe operations.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in HSE roles, with a minimum of 5 years working as a HSE Manager.
  • Hold a NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree, NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ level 6, or equivalent in Health and Safety.
  • Have SMSTS certification.
  • Demonstrate experience working in a HSE capacity on a construction site or high-risk environment.
  • Show good working knowledge of welding fume and associated occupational health hazards.
  • Advantageous to have knowledge of fabrication and welding practices.
