Software Development Specialist

As part of its national work programme, Digital Health and Care Wales is introducing sophisticated IT systems to improve patient care, ensuring that they are joined together to allow the safe, appropriate sharing of information between clinical systems. This will ensure a patient's medical records are available at the point of need, regardless of where they are held in Wales.

The Integration Team is seeking a skilled developer to design, document, and develop integration solutions for numerous systems across Wales. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of technologies such as XML and SQL.

The successful candidate will work with staff at all levels to deliver the organisation's strategic plan by placing quality, safety, and innovation at the centre of their work. They will play a key role in working alongside a multi-disciplinary team to support the delivery of new products and enhancements to existing systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design, document, and develop integration solutions for numerous systems across Wales.
  2. Create solutions using integration software, Javascript, XML, and SQL stored procedures and functions.
  3. Communicate effectively with other members of the team and other teams within the organisation.
  4. Use version control software such as GIT and SVN to manage development work properly.
  5. Attend regular sprint meetings and other project meetings to represent the INSE team if required.
  6. Keep business and technical skills up-to-date by attending training courses and seminars.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have proven experience and skills in the following areas:

  1. Integration Design patterns
  2. HL7 V2
  3. XML, JSON
  4. SQL

They will also have a strong desire to develop their skills in:

  1. Software Development Life Cycle preferably using Agile methodologies such as SCRUM
  2. Application Lifecycle Management using tools such as GIT, TFS or SVN
  3. OOP, unit testing and software design patterns
  4. SOAP and/or REST
