Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Animal Care Project Manager to lead our Care Farm's animal husbandry project. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health and welfare of all farm livestock, as well as coordinating staff rotas and maintaining legislative compliance.

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the health and welfare of all farm livestock, including recognition and response to ill health or injury.
  2. Coordinate staff team rotas to ensure staffing coverage throughout the year, including weekends and bank holidays.
  3. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative changes and comply with notifications to effectively manage risks such as TB/avian flu.
  4. Provide quantitative and qualitative reports as needed, such as a monthly report to the Care Farm Manager.
  5. Develop and maintain good relationships with relevant parties, including farmers, landowners, smallholders, and vets.
Requirements
  • Experience in farming/livestock keeping, preferably in a small, community-based setting.
  • Knowledge of all compliance requirements of keeping livestock.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a wide range of people.
  • Strong IT skills and ability to use a variety of programs.
  • A positive approach towards working with people with learning disabilities and an attitude based on respect, dignity, and equality.
