Role Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic and adaptable Cover Supervisors to work in a range of secondary schools throughout Stockport. As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a positive learning environment by supervising classes during teacher absences. This position is ideal for individuals looking to gain experience in the education sector or those considering a career in teaching.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage classroom activities in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students remain on task and complete assigned work.
  • Provide support to students as needed, fostering an inclusive learning environment and promoting positive relationships.
  • Manage student behaviour effectively, ensuring adherence to school policies and maintaining a safe and respectful classroom environment.
  • Communicate effectively with teaching staff regarding student progress and any issues that arise during lessons.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to classroom management as required, supporting the smooth operation of the school.
Requirements
  • A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics, demonstrating a solid foundation in core subjects.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential, as we provide comprehensive training and support.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with students positively, building trust and rapport.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and classroom management, with a focus on student well-being and academic success.
  • Flexibility to work across different schools and adapt to various teaching styles, demonstrating a commitment to collaboration and teamwork.
