About Polaris
Polaris is an independent specialist provision that serves children and young people in the East Midlands who live with their families, foster carers or in residential children's homes.
We provide high-quality education, adopting a thoughtful and informed approach for each pupil. Our school supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and a range of diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, Attachment needs and mild/moderate learning needs.
The Role
As a Personalised Learning Mentor, you will be dedicated to mentoring and supporting one pupil or a small group of no more than six pupils.
You will support the Classroom Teacher during lessons, report on pupils' progress and concerns, and liaise with other School staff to ensure pupils' needs are met.
You will also supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips.
Your responsibilities will include assisting with lesson planning and classroom preparation, setting work where appropriate, and marking.
You will build positive relationships with your pupil/s and drive interaction and positive learning outcomes.
Requirements
- Have a strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills.
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant.
- Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an Educational setting.
- Be experienced and confident enough to take additional responsibility in an area of school, such as Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, School Yoga etc.
- Experience of behaviour management and techniques.
- Committed to professional development and willing to learn.
- Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.

Salary
£19,186.02 - £22,160.57 per annum.
