Job Title: Graduate Teaching Assistant (Secondary)

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to support secondary-aged students in schools across Newcastle.

About the Role:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced teachers to deliver engaging and inclusive lessons, providing one-to-one and small group support to students. Your role will involve assisting with lesson preparation, supporting students' academic progress, and helping to create a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in preparing and delivering lessons across a range of subjects, ensuring students of all abilities can access the curriculum.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students, helping them with their learning and understanding of key concepts.
  • Support students' academic progress by assisting with tasks, offering encouragement, and reinforcing key learning objectives.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and create a positive learning environment where students feel supported and engaged.
  • Work with teachers and school staff to monitor student progress and provide feedback.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as preparing classroom resources and organising activities.
  • Support students' social and emotional development, helping them build confidence and develop strong communication skills.

Requirements:

  • A degree in any subject (a specialism in Education or a subject taught at secondary level is advantageous).
  • A genuine interest in working with secondary-aged students and a passion for education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • A positive and proactive approach to supporting student learning and development.
  • A valid DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one.
