We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead and manage our Financial Services function, promoting efficiency, high performance, probity, and excellent value for money services.

About the Role
  • To act as the Deputy Section 151 Officer, providing strategic leadership and technical expertise in the operation and development of all financial activities of the Council.
  • To drive efficiency and productivity improvements, and optimise income opportunities to contribute towards achieving financial self-sufficiency.

In this role, you will work closely with the Chief Officer Finance & Performance to deliver service transformation, leveraging your knowledge of financial management systems and local government accounting practices.

As a senior finance professional, you will be responsible for managing budgets, forecasting revenue and expenditure, and developing strategies to improve financial performance.

You will also have the opportunity to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex financial challenges, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve organisational goals.

Requirements
  • A fully qualified member of one of the five accountancy institutes in CCAB or CIMA.
  • Demonstrable experience in a strategic finance role in the Public Sector, preferably Local Government.
  • Sound knowledge and experience of local government accounting relating to relevant Accounting Codes of Practice, Statutory requirements and to grant regimes.
  • An ability to innovate and lead in the transformation of service delivery, including project management of cross-team initiatives.
